ADDICTION Counseling in Denison, Texas and the Texoma Region

Professional Help for Alcohol, Drug, and Behavioral Addictions
If addiction is affecting your life, your relationships, your work, or your health, you are not alone—and recovery is possible. Many people struggle with addiction for years before reaching out for help. Some feel ashamed. Others believe they should be able to overcome it on their own. Addiction affects people from every walk of life, regardless of age, profession, education, or background.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It is often the first and most important step toward lasting change. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), I provide professional counseling for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, compulsive behaviors, and addiction-related challenges.

I provide addiction counseling services for adults in Denison, Sherman, Pottsboro, Whitesboro, Van Alstyne, Gainesville, Durant, and throughout the Texoma region. Both in-person and telehealth appointments are available.

Types of Addiction Treatment and Counseling I Provide
• Alcohol addiction
• Prescription medication misuse
• Opioid addiction
• Marijuana dependency
• Methamphetamine addiction
• Cocaine addiction
• Gambling addiction
• Pornography addiction
• Internet and technology addiction
• Compulsive behaviors

• Co-occurring mental health challenges
Whether your addiction is recent or has been present for many years, counseling can help you develop healthier coping skills and create a practical path toward recovery.

Understanding Addiction
Addiction is more than a lack of willpower. Over time, addictive behaviors can affect thought patterns, decision-making, emotional regulation, physical health, and relationships. Many people find themselves repeating behaviors they genuinely want to stop despite experiencing negative consequences.

Addiction often exists alongside:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Trauma
• PTSD
• Grief and loss
• Relationship difficulties
• Chronic stress

What Counseling Can Help You Achieve
Effective treatment addresses both the addiction and the underlying issues contributing to it.

Through counseling, you can learn how to:
• Understand addiction triggers
• Reduce cravings and high-risk behaviors
• Build healthier coping strategies
• Improve relationships damaged by addiction
• Strengthen accountability and motivation
• Develop relapse prevention plans
• Manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges
• Rebuild confidence and self-respect

Recovery is not simply about stopping a behavior. It is about creating a healthier, more stable, and more fulfilling life with improved relationships, better coping skills, and renewed purpose.

Signs It May Be Time to Seek Help

• Difficulty stopping despite negative consequences
• Increased conflict with family or relationships
• Problems at work or school
• Using substances or behaviors to cope with stress or emotions
• Failed attempts to quit or cut back
• Concerns raised by family members or friends
If any of these situations sound familiar, counseling may help you gain clarity, support, and a practical plan for moving forward.

A Personalized Approach to Recovery

Every person's experience with addiction is different. Some clients seek complete abstinence. Others are trying to better understand the extent of their substance use and determine the best path forward. Counseling is tailored to your unique circumstances, goals, and stage of recovery.

My role is not to judge or criticize. My role is to help you identify obstacles, develop practical solutions, and move toward lasting change. As a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, I also understand the unique challenges addiction can create for veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families.

Faith-Based Counseling Available

For clients who desire it, Biblical principles and prayer can be incorporated into the counseling process while maintaining professional clinical standards.
